Preparing South London school leavers for job opportunities in London Olympic boroughs
October 2008
Press Release
Executive Solutions runs courses for executives and managers in ‘team-building & bonding’, the chairing of meetings and the operation of organisations with remote workers.
A new project, beginning this month, is being developed at Catford High School in south London and will focus on the skills needed by pupils for securing jobs.
Emphasis will be on the presentation of paper-work, projection at interview and the identifying of initiatives called ‘Olympic Opportunities’. It will feature the expansion of employment in London during the next four years.
Some school-leavers of 2009 will be in their 20s by the end of the London Olympics. All sorts of jobs will have been created, many of which could lead to permanent employment in a regenerated area.
Business pupils at Catford High will be encouraged to explore this range of potential job creation and to assess their capabilities for securing work in what will be a rare opportunity.
The Olympics were first in London 100 years ago; they were back again 40 years later and within four years … will have come and gone.
Here is a group of young people being shown ways of improving their job-securing skills for life, within an area that is close to home and within a time-frame that is imminent.
