In response to several enquiries we have received, here is our list of frequently asked questions about the Train to Gain grant for Leadership and managment funding for small organisations based in London. Some of these questions were asked by participants on our FREE teleseminars.

• What type of organisations can apply for this grant?

Private businesses, charities and social enterprises based in London are eligible to access the grant for leadership and management training.

• I own a small business and mange it with two full time employees. Can we apply for the grant?

Small organisations with less than five employees are not eligible for the grant. For the employee count, however, volunteers can be included in the count of employees for your business. This applies also to charities and social enterprises.

• We work with organisations in London, but our office is based is outside Greater London. Can we apply for a grant.

No. The grant is available only to small organisations based in London.

• I am right now registered unemployed with council and want to work for charity organisation or set up my own business. Can I apply for a grant.

No. The grant is available only to businesses that are already operating in London and not to individuals who are planning to set up a business.

• Are these grants and the teleseminar session only available to organisations seeking to train staff, or are individuals (e.g. self-employed) also eligible?

The FREE teleseminars are run by Executive Solutions (Training) and are open to the public. Self-employed business owners (including Sole Traders) with businesses in London and with five or more employees are eligible for a leadership and management training grant.

 

• Is there a minimum time that the business has to be trading to apply for the grant?

At present, there is no minimum length of trading before small organisations can apply for the grant.

• Do businesses have to be turning over a specific amount before they can apply for a grant?

No, there is no minimum turnover requirement, at present.

• Is the grant for training exclusively for Executive Solutions (Training) Ltd seminars, training and workshops ONLY or can I choose the leadership and management courses from other training companies as required?

No, the grant is not exclusively for Executive Solutions (Training) Ltd courses and workshops. You can have your training delivered by more than one training provider if you choose. You do, however, need to ensure you make this clear when you meet with your Train to Gain broker.

 

• If I received a Train to Gain grant for leadership training a year ago, can I apply again?

One grant for each small organisation. So, if you received a Train to Gain grant before for leadership and management training, you are not eligible to apply again.

 

• Is there a time limit by which the grant has to be used?

After receiving approval from Train to Gain, you need to begin your selected training within 90 days.

 

* SMEs –small and medium size enterprises with 5 – 250 staff and turnover more than £43million (50 million euros).
